We use solder-free connectors to make it very easy for you to install the pickups and support electronics. There’s one snag though. The connector itself might not fit through the channels in the body, typically just enough for small cables to pass through. Quite often, the connector’s size prevents it to fit into tight spaces. Fortunately, there is a simple work-around: Unlatching the connectors.
UNLATCHING INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1:
Important: Before anything else, take note of the positions of each of the color-coded wires. Draw a diagram clearly indicating the positions of each wire, or simply take a picture of the connector with the cable still attached.
Using tweezers, unlatch the terminals by carefully lifting the small plastic latches as shown in the picture below. Do this for all the remaining latches.

NOTE: Remember to do this carefully as the plastic latch can easily break.

STEP 2:
Now with all the terminals unlatched, carefully pull each one outward, removing them from the connector.

NOTE: This is preferably done one terminal at a time just to be careful to avoid any damage to the connector and the terminals.

FINISH: The picture above shows the terminals properly unlatched and detached from the connector.
LATCHING INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1
Now to re-attach the terminals to the connector, align them to each respective insertion points within the head piece.
Important: Make sure to insert each color-coded wire in its proper position as noted in the first step before we unlatched the connector.

NOTE: Like before, this can be done one terminal at a time just to be careful to avoid any damage to the connector and the terminals.

STEP 3
Now, snap the latches into the terminals by gently pushing the plastic pieces into the connector to hold them into place.

NOTE: The latches will easily snap into place when inserted properly. If they don’t, that means that the terminals are not yet sufficiently inserted. Do not force the latches to snap. Gently push the terminals further inside the connector first to ensure proper alignment.
