The XR-Spectra V3 coils are here. These low-impedance, bobbin-less coils are designed for optimal performance and clarity, featuring a minimalist construction that reduces bulk and enhances efficiency. By removing the traditional bobbin, the coils achieve tighter winding and improved magnetic coupling, resulting in a clean, wide-band frequency response that faithfully captures string vibrations. This design ensures accurate, uncolored signal reproduction, making the coils ideal for a wide range of tonal applications.
Internally, the XR-Spectra V3 coils feature a stainless-steel core with embedded magnets —a design carefully refined to maximize magnetic flux and overall output. This configuration enhances sensitivity and dynamic range, providing a detailed, noise-free signal. Engineered for durability and consistency, the V3 coils maintain the tonal precision and versatility that have become hallmarks of the XR-Spectra series.
The coils use AWG38 self-bonding magnet wire (also known as bondable magnet wire). It has a thin layer of thermoplastic polyurethane adhesive, activated using 140~160°C hot air. The magnet wire is heated while winding, and again after winding. The result is solid and does not require any wax potting step.
