I plan to write more about Ascend, DSP programming, and other future innovations related to the Infinity project, including Thor and Valkyrie. I want to connect, but I’m tired of social media algorithms that decide which articles deserve a wider reach. Chat apps such as Discord, on the other hand, offer real-time discussions but require participants to be online simultaneously to engage in meaningful interactions, which is impractical for a community that spans the globe.

I want to connect! I believe I have a lot to share. This Infinity quest is an ongoing journey, and it’s fulfilling when people engage in the discussions. I miss the days of genuine interaction on mailing lists and newsgroups. Platforms like Groups.io offer a modernized mailing list experience, they support interaction via both the web and plain email. Groups.io is a modern take on Google Groups, with features such as hashtags that let members filter out topics they find uninteresting and a simpler, highly responsive, clean, and minimalistic web interface.
I’d love your feedback on reviving this approach. Tell me what you think! Do you agree? Are there better alternatives I don’t know of?

Mailing lists are great–I prefer them by far. Asynchronous > synchronous.
The messages I cannot wait to see: “Infinity module now available” and “Ascend updated with envelope features.” 🙂
Google Groups itself being a modern theft of Usenet. I don’t have an answer. The internet was based on standard protocols and competing clients, but the way to make money is to own the protocol too.
Social media do follow the ‘hit and run’ model, aside from those nasty ‘popularity’ algorithms, so definitely not good for hobbies involving subjects, discussion, databases, etc.
I do miss the good old forums where all information/discussion was organized in permanent sections and topics, so easy to find at any moment, even when they had to go to archive partitions.
Fortunately some of these forums still do exist, despite the old PhP formats were often replaced for more modern solutions, like Invision which is not much different in terms of appearance
