This LTD SC-208 began life as an entry level 8-string for those interested in dipping their toe in the “deep end”. The stock setup included passive humbuckers, a 3-way selector, master volume and tone control. By converting to a Flex Set the switching options expanded from 3 to 5, the frequency response was greatly extended, and the guitar shed some weight along the way.

Some of you asked if it is possible to have the Nu and XR in a common baseplate. It turns out that it is indeed possible. The way to do it is have the Nu Multi, which has a somewhat lower profile, piggyback on the XR’s baseplate. This way, the Nu will still have its own height adjustment independent of the XR. You’d want the Nu capsules as close to the strings as possible (within 1mm to 2mm) to minimize crosstalk. Here’s the idea:
After more than a year of continuous refinement, I’m proud to finally release the Nexus. This small, hacker friendly breakout box connects your multichannel guitar to the outside world using a specialized (LEMO compatible) multi-pin connector for up to 12 channels of audio and 7 channels of analog control voltages for by-wire (remote) control of volume, tone, patch or effects. Audio may come from standard mono-pickups or from the Nu multichannel pickup. Analog control voltages are converted to MIDI control messages.
The Nexus and related support electronics are currently only available on pre-order basis, with a 3 week lead time for the first batch. Please send us a message for inquiries and orders.
For those following our install articles, the 60th Anniversary Strat project we did recently was powered by a Fishman Rechargable Battery Pack. We have had some inquires as to how to incorporate the Fishman battery with our systems and thus have created a diagram detailing the process. Continue reading
Here we see the first installation to feature our Toggle Switch Hub which interfaces the classic LP-style 3-way switch to our Cycfi Active Series pickups. The guitar in question is an Epiphone Explorer in classic amber tinted Korina (white limba). Technology has finally caught up with the Explorer’s futuristic design resulting in a perfect marriage with our XR series pickups.
As those who follow our products know, we have had options for users of the classic 5-way blade switch since the release of the XR series. We are pleased to announce that we have expanded the versatility of the XR series even further with a solderless option for those who wish to use the LP style 3-way toggle switch. Our 3-way Toggle Switch Hub serves as the central connection point for XR pickup systems and offers the versatility of customizable switching options.
The versatile design of the hub allows for connection of 2 XR Active Series pickups (2 Quads, 2 Duals or 1 of each) and numerous control configurations including:
- 1-Vol 1-Tone,
- 1-Vol 2-Tone,
- 2-Vol 2-Tone
- 1-Vol + Resonant Filter
Note: The Toggle Switch Hub is compatible with the XR Active Series pickup systems only.

When the owner of this lovely 60th Anniversary MIM Strat asked us to outfit it with an XR system we couldn’t wait! This particular iteration of the Strat didn’t stray far from the original design from 1954. It seemed fitting to upgrade it, and bring it 60+ years into the future to showcase the advances in technology since the days of the originals. Enjoy this visual tour of the installation and final results.
These guys are now on their way to Sweden along with the customized Free-Way Switch wiring harness. Should I join the fad and call this Pickup Porn? Nah, I just enjoy taking nice pictures 🙂
The clear acrylic baseplates are looking sharp when mated with the pickups!
